Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Orzo

A comforting one-pot meal featuring tender orzo pasta, vibrant broccoli, shredded chicken, and a glorious melty cheese blend.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ medium onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or thawed frozen)
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups cooked (shredded) chicken
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (preferably sharp)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Sauté the onions and garlic in olive oil and butter for 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the broccoli florets, seasoning with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning; sauté for another 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the orzo pasta and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat and cover for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce until combined.
  6. Fold in the shredded chicken and half of the cheddar cheese until melted.
  7. Garnish with remaining cheese, covering the pot for 2-3 minutes until it melts.

Notes

Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs or extra cheese. Pairs well with a side salad or garlic bread.
