Creamy Garlic Prawns

Restaurant-quality creamy garlic prawns topped with fresh parsley, perfect for a cozy dinner.

  • 500g / 1lb peeled prawns
  • 1 garlic clove, finely minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 15g / 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely minced (additional)
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable stock (low sodium)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup parmesan, finely grated
  • 2 tbsp parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prep your prawns: Make sure your prawns are peeled, deveined, and patted dry with a paper towel.
  2. Heat the oil & butter: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and unsalted butter.
  3. Sear the prawns: Add the prawns to the skillet in a single layer and let them cook for 2–3 minutes per side.
  4. Sauté the garlic: In the same pan, add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
  5. Deglaze with wine: Pour in the dry white wine and scrape any bits from the bottom of the pan.
  6. Add the stock: Pour in your chicken or vegetable stock and let it simmer for 2 minutes.
  7. Creamy time!: Pour in the heavy cream, stir, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  8. Add the parmesan: Mix in the finely grated parmesan cheese until it melts into the sauce.
  9. Reintroduce the prawns: Toss the prawns back into the pan and let them warm through.
  10. Garnish & serve: Sprinkle over the fresh parsley to finish.

Notes

Serve over rice or pasta, and pair with a glass of white wine.
