Basil Butter

A luscious basil butter that enhances any dish with its vibrant flavor, perfect for spreading or melting over grilled meats and vegetables.

  • 1/2 pound unsalted butter (2 sticks, divided)
  • 1 cup fresh basil, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  1. Soften the butter by letting it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes or microwave it for 10 seconds.
  2. Mix the softened butter, garlic powder, and sea salt in a mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the thinly sliced basil and gently fold it into the butter mixture.
  4. Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning as desired.
  5. Shape the butter into a log using parchment paper or plastic wrap.
  6. Chill the log in the fridge for at least one hour to firm up.

Notes

For variations, try adding lemon zest, red pepper flakes, or other fresh herbs. Basil butter freezes well; just slice into portions and store in an airtight container.
