Filipino Garlic Rice (Sinangag)

  • 2 cups cooked Jasmine rice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Crispy garlic chips (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prep your rice by ensuring it is cold and preferably a day or two old for best results.
  2. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat until shimmering.
  3. Sauté the minced garlic, stirring gently until golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Add the cooled rice to the pan and mix thoroughly with the garlic.
  5. Season with salt to taste and combine well.
  6. Create crispy garlic chips by frying extra minced garlic in a separate pan.
  7. Serve the Sinangag hot, garnished with crispy garlic chips if desired.
