Easy Homemade Apple Cobbler

A comforting apple cobbler that combines the sweetness of apples with a buttery topping.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice in a large bowl. Toss gently to coat and let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Add the buttermilk and melted butter, stirring until just combined.
  4. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Pour the apple mixture into the dish and spread it evenly. Scoop dollops of the batter over the apples.
  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the topping is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Let the cobbler cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be made ahead and baked later.
