Apple Cheddar Quesadilla

A delightful blend of crispy tortillas, sweet apples, and sharp cheddar cheese, this Apple Cheddar Quesadilla offers a unique twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

  • Flour or corn tortillas
  • Sharp or mild cheddar cheese (or Monterey Jack)
  • Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples
  • Butter (or olive oil for a lighter option)
  • Salt
  • Optional: Cinnamon, fresh herbs (thyme)

Instructions

  1. Start by peeling and slicing your apples into thin wedges.
  2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  3. Toss in the sliced apples and a pinch of salt, then sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender and slightly golden.
  4. On a clean surface, lay one tortilla flat.
  5. Spread a generous handful of shredded cheddar on half of the tortilla, followed by a layer of sautéed apples.
  6. Top with another layer of cheese, then fold the tortilla in half.
  7. In the same skillet, add more butter if necessary, and place the quesadilla in the pan.
  8. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on low to medium heat until golden brown.
  9. Carefully flip and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until equally golden and the cheese is gooey.
  10. Transfer the quesadilla to a cutting board and cut into wedges.
  11. Plate your quesadilla wedges and serve hot, possibly with honey or sour cream.
