Double Chocolate Pumpkin Bread

A moist and decadent double chocolate pumpkin bread perfect for cozy mornings or as a delightful dessert.

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  3. Combine the pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract.
  5. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in another bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  7. Stir in the chocolate chips, reserving a handful for topping.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
  10. Bake for 55-65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  12. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

This bread pairs excellently with whipped cream or cream cheese, and can be customized with ingredients like nuts or dried fruit.
