4th of July Cookies

Celebrate Independence Day with these vibrant and delicious cookies, perfect for summer gatherings.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (250 grams)
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ¼ cups Red, White, and Blue M&M’s (10-ounce bag)
  • 2 tablespoons Red, White, and Blue Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream the butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients gradually, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the Red, White, and Blue M&M’s and sprinkles gently.
  7. Scoop dough onto greased or lined baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are slightly golden.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
