Pumpkin Scones

Delightful pumpkin scones, soft and tender, bursting with warm autumn spices. Perfect for breakfast or as an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Combine the pumpkin puree, milk, egg, and vanilla in another bowl.
  5. Bring the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until no dry flour is visible.
  6. Shape the dough on a floured surface and knead slightly.
  7. Cut the dough into wedges and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Make the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
  10. Glaze the warm scones and serve.

Notes

These scones are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored for a few days.
