Classic Southern Peach Cobbler

A warm and nostalgic southern dessert made with fresh peaches and a golden crust.

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sliced peaches with 1/2 cup of sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add the milk and melted butter.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly. Spoon the peach mixture over the batter – do not stir!
  5. Pop the cobbler into the oven and bake for about 35-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  6. Let the cobbler cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, and feel free to add a touch of cinnamon or mint for garnish.
