Easy Mango Sticky Rice

A sweet and creamy Thai dessert made with sticky rice, coconut milk, and ripe mangoes, perfect for sharing joyful moments.

  • 1 cup Sticky Rice (uncooked)
  • 13.6 oz coconut milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1.5 inches fresh ginger (peeled, optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 45 tbsp sugar (or sugar alternative)
  • 2 ripe mangoes
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and soak the sticky rice for at least 4 hours or overnight if possible.
  2. Prepare the coconut sauce by heating coconut milk, sugar, salt, and ginger in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
  3. Cook the rice by steaming it in a basket over boiling water for 25-30 minutes until tender.
  4. Combine the cooked rice with half of the coconut sauce and let it absorb for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Slice the mangoes just before serving.
  6. Plate the sticky rice, arrange the mango slices, and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, add shredded coconut or crushed peanuts as toppings. Can substitute mango with other tropical fruits.
